Entry: Feel the burn Sunday, July 31, 2005

Wow. There's this old house that's been right in front of my grandmother's for many many years. Well the owner moved out and he couldn't find anyone to sell it to. So he donated it to the fire department to burn down for practice. So the entire East Hazel Crest FD came out today and blocked off our whole street. And the Thorton FD was there too... let me say, Thorton has the most AWESOME fire trucks EVER! lol. They're a very very rich green. I love it. Anyway... so Granny, mom, my cousin Michelle, and her husband Dave, and I all gathered on Granny's porch and watched all the firemen prepare and we greeted the owners of the house. And before we knew it, the entire neighborhood was in our front yard. And Homewood's citizens were spread all up and down the street. Plus that parking lot right next to my house was jam packed with people all stopping to watch the fire. There were even news reporters getting out and taking millions of pictures. We felt so bad though because all those people thought the fire was not a set up and were walking up with horrified looks going "did everyone make it out ok?" We tried to tell as many people as we could that it was intentional but the word didn't get around to everyone. And we didn't tell the newsreporters cuz we thought it was funny that they thought they had this big story when there was really nothing to write about. lol. Poor dudes. But yea the smoke got REALLY high. In fact that's how Homewood knew about the fire, they could see the smoke! So yea, it was pretty amazing watching the house burn and the cranes on the truck go all the way up and seeing hoses everywhere. When the house caught fire you could hear all the windows breaking and at one point something even exploded, driving every dog in the neighborhood insane. lol. We had a lot of fun though, all these strange people we had never met, we got to bond with in our very own yard. We even joked about getting hotdogs and marshmellows out. lol. And at one point I was playing songs like "Fire" and "Burning Down the House" on my laptop so that everyone could hear. It was great times, all those people in our yard coming to watch the fire, it reminded me SO much of my favorite book Rocket Boys. But I guess you have to read to understand.

As for the rest of my day, I went job hunting and shopping with Philip. I applied at Game Stop... which would be SO awesome to work at. Philip and I walked in on a lightsaber battle there. lol. They got those really nice 100 dollar sabers in and the employees were duking it out in the middle of the store. They even challenged Philip and made him fight. lol. So that was fun. We also had fun at Vogue looking at material for my dress. I can't wait to get it. Also we stopped at Best Buy and I bought the 5 new Halo 2 maps for my xbox. I'm so happy with the levels because I LOVE the smaller levels and 90 percent of the new levels are just my size. And the big one, which is Terminal I believe, is pretty cool cuz it has trains going through it and you have to be careful to dodge em.

And last but not least, I have decided to see March of the Penguins... who's with me?!
